This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from standard-beauty.co.za (the “Site”).

Personal Information We Collect

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information”.

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

-       “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.

Additionally, when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers and EFT information), email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information”.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

How Do We Use Your Personal Information?

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfil any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:

-       Communicate with you;

-       Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and

-       When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimise our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

Location Data & Geofencing

Why We Need Your Location

Our mobile application uses location-based technology, including geofencing, powered by Klaviyo. This requires access to your device’s location in order to deliver store-specific content, timely notifications, and personalised experiences that are relevant to where you are.

Location access is entirely optional. You will be prompted to grant permission when you first use the app. You may also enable or disable location access at any time through your device’s settings. Please note that disabling location access will limit certain features of the app.

What Is Geofencing?

Geofencing is a technology that defines a virtual geographic boundary around a physical location — such as one of our stores. When your device enters or exits this boundary (and location permissions are enabled), the app can trigger relevant, contextual actions such as sending you a push notification about an in-store promotion or notifying you of a nearby launch event.

How Location Data Is Used

We use your location data for the following purposes:

•       Store proximity detection: To identify your nearest Standard Skin & Beauty store or authorised stockist and surface relevant store information within the app.

•       Geofence-triggered notifications: To send you timely push notifications when you are near one of our stores, such as exclusive in-store offers, new product arrivals, or upcoming events.

•       Location-relevant promotions: To deliver promotions, product availability updates, and marketing content specific to your geographic area.

•       Personalised in-app experience: To customise the content shown within the app based on your location, including store hours, events, and local product availability.

•       Analytics and optimisation: To understand which store areas drive the most app engagement and to improve the relevance and timing of our communications.

How Location Data Enables App Features

The following app features are enabled or enhanced by location access:

•       Store Finder: Automatically surfaces your nearest store with directions, trading hours, and current promotions.

•       Geo-targeted Push Notifications: Triggered automatically when you enter a defined geofence radius around one of our stores.

•       Local Promotions Feed: Displays deals and content specific to stores near you, rather than generic national campaigns.

•       Event Alerts: Notifies you of in-store events (such as beauty masterclasses or product launches) when you are in the vicinity.

Location Data Sharing & Retention

Your location data is processed by Klaviyo on our behalf solely for the purposes described above. We do not sell your location data to third parties, nor is it used for any purpose beyond delivering relevant app functionality and communications.

Location data collected via geofencing is not stored as a permanent record of your movements. Event-triggered data (such as a geofence entry that triggered a notification) may be retained as part of your marketing profile to improve future communications, in line with our general data retention practices.

Your Location Privacy Choices

You have full control over location access:

•       iOS: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → [App Name] and select “Never”, “While Using the App”, or “Always”.

•       Android: Go to Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Permissions → Location and choose your preferred option.

We recommend selecting “While Using the App” or “Always” to fully benefit from store-specific features. Selecting “Never” will disable geofence notifications and location-based personalisation.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above. For example, we use Shopify to power our online store — you can read more about how Shopify uses your Personal Information here: https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. Additionally, if you are a European resident, we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfil contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

Data Retention

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.

Minors

The Site is not intended for individuals under the age of 18.
